SuperRatings Methodology

SuperRatings’ rating methodology seeks to cover over 300 individual parts of a superannuation fund’s offering. The data assessed covers information both in the public domain as well as aspects which are sourced directly from funds (questionnaires).

For more information on the SuperRatings methodology refer to the full text of the SuperRatings methodology at http://www.superratings.com.au/ratings

Our ratings system covers seven main assessment components. These are reviewed both quantitatively and qualitatively and are individually weighted.

Each rated fund is provided with regular ‘Request for Information’ documents from SuperRatings to maintain our data. Where a fund does not respond, or the data provided cannot be substantiated, then the response used will, where appropriate, be assumed to be at the 75th percentile of our universe.

For any queries about the content, please see http://www.superratings.com.au. Any queries about the application of the information contained in this report to your particular circumstances should be directed to your financial advisor and/or fund.

Insurance

SuperRatings performs an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of insurance premiums across a range of insurance options offered by the various funds. In this report, only sample aged based premiums for one option are displayed. For example, many funds offer insurance with 30, 60- or 90-day waiting periods but for comparative purposes only the 60-day waiting period is usually displayed in this report. For more details on particular insurance options reference should be made to the relevant fund’s product disclosure statement.

Fees

The way that funds are required to disclose their fees is in transition, to ensure our comparisons remain relevant during this period the fees displayed in the RateMySuper tool exclude transaction costs such as brokerage, settlement costs or stamp duty. For information on funds’ fees including any transaction costs, please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statements or Fees and Costs/Investment Guides.
